Miss DI Yogyakarta, Maria Harfanti (23), was named Miss Indonesia 2015 at a glittering pageant in Jakarta last night. The 1.73m beauty was crowned by outgoing queen (and Miss World quarter finalitst), Maria Rahajeng, and the reigning Miss World, Rolene Strauss from South Africa. Harfanti also won the Beauty With A Purpose award and will now start preparing to represent Indonesia at Miss World 2015.
The first runner-up was Miss Sumatera Selatan, Savina Wibowo, and the second runner-up was Miss Papua, Yona Miagan. The top 7 were completed by the delegates from DKI Jakarta, Jawa Timur, NTT and Sumatera Utara.
Earlier in the day, a press conference was held to welcome Miss World to Indonesia with the outgoing queen, Rahajeng, and owner of Miss Indonesia, Liliana Tanoesoedibjo, answering questions alongside Strauss and Miss World CEO, Julia Morley. Indonesia is due to host Miss World 2016. Strauss spoke about the incredible warmth and love she experienced from the Indonesian public and also her passion for Miss World's Beauty With A Purpose cause.
