Miss USA 2017 Review: South Dakota - Wyoming

The reigning Miss USA, Deshauna Barber from the District of Columbia, will crown Miss USA 2017 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 14th. The 51 delegates, representing the 50 states and DC, only had a ten pageant this year and now it is crunch time for them. On Sunday, only ten will announce to the final round of the competition before they are narrowed down to a top 5 and a top 3. As always, the preliminaries proved to be insightful and many of the favorites fizzled. This year can only be described as a "wide open race" and "anyone's game". With 60% of the results coming from the interviews, it is guaranteed that a lot of the pre-pageant favorites will be left disappointed and we are expecting a top 10 with quite a few surprises. After following the pageant for the last ten days, here are our thoughts about the Miss USA 2017 delegates:

****** Crown Contender - might be the next Miss USA
***** Top 5 contender
**** Very likely to be included in the top 10
*** Could be a surprise in the top 10 due to an exceptional interview or preliminary round
** Unlikely to place
* Highly unlikely to place

Tessa is super cute, but in a strong group like this one it will be an uphill battle for her to place. The competition is just too strong this year.

Allee-Sutton is really beautiful. As a lawyer, I do believe that she will also have strong communication skills. I think her interview will be her best asset. Many people think she can take it all. At times, I feel that she would be even more perfect for the Miss America Pageant. I am very curious to see how the Miss USA judges will see her. I think she will do very well.

Nancy is super sexy and she delivered in evening gown and swimsuit. Texas has a strong sash and I would not count her out, but I am worried about her interview. It might keep her out of the top 10, but if she impressed the judges in this round, she will be up there.

I absolutely love Baylee and it's not just because her mother is a former Miss USA. She is a fierce competitor in her own right. I am aware that a lot of people feel that she might be a bit "fuller" than your average Miss USA competitor, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I actually find her super gorgeous, relatable and someone whose reign I'd like to follow for a whole year. I just wish she would relax a little bit more on stage and have fun up there. I would love it if she wins Miss USA 2017.

Madison was Miss Vermont Teen USA 2014 and now she has made it to the Miss USA stage. I thought she was better than expected and delivered in both rounds, but I don't think it will be enough to place.

Jacqueline was Miss Virginia Teen USA 2010 and made it to the top 15 of Miss Teen USA. I thought she was better than I expected, but not as strong as some of the competitors Virginia has sent in the past. She's got beautiful eyes.

Alex is another former Miss Teen USA contestant  having represented  Washington in 2014. She is cure, pretty and different. I loved her evening gown performance.

Lauren did well in the competition, but as I have said several times, it's a strong group, so I am not expecting a placement for her.

Skylar is bubbly and cute. Will that be enough? I think it will be an uphill battle for her to place.

Mikaela represented her state at Miss America 2015. She failed to place at that pageant, so I am expecting something similar at this pageant.

  1. I was very impressed with Texas during the preliminaries, was let down by Utah being somewhat bland, and Vermont won my heart... I hope Vermont makes it to the Top 10 knowing that the state is also way overdue for a placement. Vermont was so precious on stage and actually was the best representative the state has had in years!!!
