2012 Pageant Report Card: Pageant Activities

From the desert dunes of Ordos to the coasts of Okinawa, and the bright lights of Las Vegas, to the white sandy beaches of the Philippines, the contestants of the world's  four most important pageants were treated to an array of activities that will be remembered, discussed and shared for years to come. Let's take a look at how the PAGEANT ACTIVITIES of the Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth compared in 2012:

Miss Philippines a the Official Press Presentation
Well, to be honest the Miss Universe Pageant was a last minute affair and not much was expected. The 16 pageant mostly comprised of photoshoots, a few events, and then lots and lots of rehearsals. The good thing is that the girls got amazing photos by the amazing Fadil Berisha which can go to their portfolios and good for their careers but in terms of events in Las Vegas, there was nothing absolutely spectacular. The highlight was probably the official opening of the pageant where the girls were introduced one by one to the public but we miss the days when the Miss Universe contestants got to tour the host city or host nations with a lot of fanfare associated with the whole event.
The girls were kept busy with loads of photoshoots

The Opening Ceremony of all Opening Ceremonies in the history of Miss World

The city of Ordos really went all out to give the 2012 Miss World contestants the time of their lives. In fact, the girls experienced a wide variety of activities. From the lavish opening cermony where the girls embarked from an "airplane" to be greeted by the people of Ordos on that amazing stage to tours around the city. They were also treated to a trip to the beautiful dunes of a mysterious desert and trips to one of the most cosmopolitan and bustling cities in the world, Shanghai, and the culturally famous city of Changsu, where the delegates were they were welcomed to the house of the Chinese President's mother. Throw in an the sport event at the Ordos Stadium, the talent event at the Ordos Theater, and a sleek fashion show at the Ordos Square and the result is an amazing month long adventure that the contestants of Miss World 2012 will never forget.

The Welcome Event in Okinawa
The Japanese island of Okinawa played host to the Miss International Pageant for the first time in 2012 and they exceeded all expectations. The girls were treated to a wonderful schedule of activities which ranged from a welcome party to appearances at a Tug of War Festival and a reception party by the Governer of Okinawa. The highlight was certainly the National Costume Parade through the streets around Okinawa's Palette Square. Who ever knew there was so much to do in Okinawa?!

The girls got to travel to different parts of the Philippines...
Miss Earth delegates always have a ball in the Philippines. The people are so warm and friendly and the girls are really treated like celebrities while they are in the country. Once again, the girls were split into groups and were whisked off to different locations in the Philippines. This year, a new element were introduced, the Challenge Events. Even though there were just too many challenge events and subsidiary awards to keep track of in the end, it was a good way of keeping all national directors happy as more countries got the opportunity to shine. In the end, the warmth and hospitality of the people of the Philippines combined with the natural beauty of the country, proved that it is more fun in the Philippines.
... and did their bit for the environment
