Miss South Africa 2017: Unstoppable Queen Demi Takes the Crown

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (21) from Sedgefield in the Western Cape took home the title of Miss South Africa 2017 at the Sun City Superbowl last night. Seen as the hot favorite to win the title throughout the competition, Nel-Peters is the first Miss South Africa from the Western Cape since 2000. The 1.72m beauty will spend the next year of her life working full-time for the Miss South Africa organisation. She took home the largest cash prize in the history of the pageant, R1 milllion. Nel-Peters will also represent South Africa at Miss World and Miss Universe.

The first runner-up was Ade van Heerden and the second runner-up was Boipelo Mabe. Priyeshka Lutchman and Shane Naidoo completed the top 5. Iman Mkwanazi, Nicole van Niekerk and Odirile Sepeng made the top 8.

Great winner. We all knew that she should win. Thank goodness the judges made the right decision. They decided to put two personality queens in 2nd and 3rd though.

  1. She kinda has a resemblance to Rolene Strauss, Miss World 2014. Watch out for this girl, rooting for her either for World or Universe crown.
