Miss South Africa 2017 Semi-Finalists: Meet the Ladies from Gauteng (Part 1)

Twenty six young women have survived the national screenings to make it through to the next round of the Miss South Africa competition. Gauteng, once again, has the highest number of semi-finalist with a whopping 14 ladies from this region making it. The Western Cape has 6 girls, KwaZulu Natal has 3 and the Eastern Cape, Limpopo and Mpumalanga all got one semi-finalist. These young women will go through another round of competition before the top 12 are announced. The ladies who make it to this round will battle it out for the crown and R1 million in cash on March 25, 2017 at the Sun City Superbowl in South Africa's Northwest Province.

Let's meet the first group of semi-finalists from Gauteng:

BOIPELO MABE
From: Alexandra

Eye For Beauty: On a national level, I'd expect a bit more. I need to see more of Boipelo, but I think there are stronger bets.

Eye For Beauty 1st Impression: 6.2/10

DEVONEY CROSSMAN
From: Greenstone, Johannesburg

Eye For Beauty: Not sure if this is the most flattering photo, but just based on this photo, I am left uncertain whether Devoney will make it to the next round.

Eye For Beauty 1st Impression: 6.0/10

KEIPEILE DINTOE
From: Saulsville, Pretoria

Eye For Beauty: I think she's quite raw, but I do see potential. She might be one of the girls who grows and transforms the most, just like one of my favorites from last year, Sharon-Rose Khumalo.

Eye For Beauty 1st Impression: 7.3/10

NICOLE VAN NIEKERK
From: Moregloed, Pretoria

Eye For Beauty: She reminds me a bit of South African singer and television presenter Amor Vittone. She's striking, but in this shot I'm missing freshness and spark.

Eye For Beauty 1st Impression: 6.2/10

NOMPUMELELO MAMPHOLO
From: Diepkloof, Soweto

Eye For Beauty: There's something I really like about Nompumelelo. I feel a inner calm and serenity radiating from her soul when I look at this shot. I think she's strong enough to move on to the next round.

Eye For Beauty 1st Impression: 8.1/10

NTOMBIKAYISE MSIMANGO
From: Springs

Eye For Beauty: I'm loving her name, but I must say, in this shot her look is a bit harsh. They need to tone it down for this girl.

Eye For Beauty 1st Impression: 6.0/10

ODIRILE SEPENG
From: Mabopane, Pretoria

Eye For Beauty: It's early days, but if South Africa wants to do well internationally they should pick the strongest and most complete delegates. I feel Odirile's inexperience is showing in this photo.

Eye For Beauty 1st Impression: 5.5/10
