Miss World 2014 Review: Costa Rica - Germany

The 64th Miss World will be crowned on December 14 in London, England. 121 beauties from all over the world are competing for the title. The winner will be crowned by outgoing Miss World, Megan Young from the Philippines. After keeping an eye on the pageant for the last 3 weeks, here are our thoughts:

****** : Miss World crown contender
***** : Possible top 5 finalist
****: Top 10 contender
***: Top 20 contender
**: Likely to miss the cut or an outside shot
*: Will probably miss the cut
COSTA RICA: NATASHA SIBAJA *

Natasha is a pageant veteran with lots of pageants under her belt. This is an uphill battle for her though because the field is so strong. Fans have mentioned that she resembles the reigning Miss Universe though which, I guess, is a compliment.

COTE D'IVOIRE: JENNIFER YEO **

Jennifer actu
ally did pretty well in the Sports Challenge and got some positive comments from pageant fans. I don't think it will be enough to secure a spot in the top 20 but she did a good job.

CROATIA: ANTONIJA GOGIC **

Anotnija was one of the 20 delegates shortlisted for the Top Model prize. If she places in the top 5 of that Challenge Event, she might get enough points to make it to the top 20 of Miss World 2014. She has represented her country really well.

CURACAO: GAYLE SULVARAN **

Gayle hasn't really featured much so I'm not expecting her to be one of the top 20. She tried her best though and represented her country with pride.

CYPRUS: IONNA FILIPPOU *

Even though Ionna is quite attractive, she's not competing nearly as strongly as last year's delegate. I hope she made the most of her time in London.

CZECH REPUBLIC: TEREZA SKOUMALOVA ***

Tereza is actually one of the nice surprises of this year's pageant. I didn't expect her to be in contention for a top 20 spot but she has proved me wrong. With a good performance in the Sports Event and being in the Top Model top 20, she might be one of the lucky 20 to advance to the next round.

DENMARK: PERNILLE SORENSON *

This year is a tough year as there are many worthy contenders. I don't believe Denmark has much of a shot this year. They do still have the bragging rights of being the home to the current Mr. World though. I hope Pernille thoroughly enjoyed her time in London.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: DHIO MORENO ******

Dhio is stunning and she has everything it takes to do well in this competition. I wouldn't mind seeing her in the top 10. I do think that sometimes her look is too fierce for Miss World. That being said, she is definitely still a top bet and she could pull an upset and become the next Miss World.

ECUADOR: VIRGINIA SILVA **

I was expecting Ecuador's Virginia to do well but she got lost in the crowd. This year there are so many beauties who are doing well. I am not completely counting her out but I'm not really too optimistic about her chances.

EGYPT: AMINA ASHRAF *

Egypt is back for the first time since 2011. Though it is nice to see them back, I'm not expecting a great result for them this year. Their delegates has gone unnoticed.

EL SALVADOR: LARISSA VEGA ***

Larissa is one of the strongest bets her country has sent in recent years. Even if she will probably not make it to the final stages of the competition, she has done really well. I think her beauty would have been much better received at Miss Universe.

ENGLAND: CARINA TYRELL *****

Miss England is one of favorites to do well in the pageant this year. She made headlines when she won her national title. As a 7th year medical student at Cambridge University, she definitely has the brains. She also has the beauty and could be in the top 3 based seeing that she has a great BWAP project and she's expected to do well in interview. She could give even surpass Alize Mounter's placement 3 years ago.

EQUATORIAL GUINEA: AGNES CHEBA ADE *

Agnes has not made much of an impact. There are stronger best in the African group.

ETHIOPIA: YIRGALEM ADHANOM **

Yirgalem arrived quite late and I'm glad she made it to London. She was one of my favorites at the start of the pageant. After I've seen her photos in London, I'm not so sure about her chances anymore. She is beautiful but I am not sure if she fits the Miss World mold.

FIJI: CHARLENE TAFUNA'I *

Fiji's representative in 2012, Koini, still remains my favorite her country has ever sent. Charlene did get noticed for her BWAP project but I still can't see her go further in the competition. I hope she had a great time in London though.

FINLAND: KRISTA HAAPALAINEN ***

Krista won the Sports Challenge and that will get her some valuable points. I also believe she is shortlisted for the Talent Final. Based on these two points alone, she is definitely the best performing Finnish beauty in years. She has a good shot at being in the top 20.

FRANCE: FLORA COQUEREL ******

There's no denying that Flora is one of the hot bets for the crown. She has been a favorite since she was crowned Miss France a year ago. My major concern is that she's not always equally consistent and she comes across as a bit lackluster at time. Can France go one step further and take the crown this year year? It's possible!

GABON: JESSIE LEKERY *

Jessie has not made much of an impact and I don't expect her to give her country a breakthrough performance at Miss World.

GEORGIA: ANA ZUBASHVILI **

Ana has a bit of an unconventional look in terms of beauty pageant standards. It did make her stand out but I don't know if that will be enough.

GERMANY: EGZONITA ALI **

Egzonita has the sweet and innocent look that is usually well received at Miss World. I think she's still a bit raw though and with more training, she could have received more buzz. But she's definitely a competent delegate and should be commended for her effort.
