Miss International 2014 Review: Cuba - Gabon

The 54th Miss International will be crowned on Tuesday, November 11 in Tokyo, Japan. 73 delegates are vying to become Miss International 2014. The winner will succeed Bea Santiago from the Philippines. For the last 2 weeks, the delegates took part in several activities organized by the Miss International Organization. This year there are several standouts but predicting who will win this pageant is almost impossible. Interestingly enough, the organizers decided that this year there will only be a top 10, not a top 15 like in previous years. The top 10 will be cut to 5 and one of them will be the new Miss International.

After keeping an eye on the girls for the past few weeks, here are my thoughts:

****** POSSIBLE WINNER
***** TOP 5 MATERIAL BUT WILL PROBABLY NOT WIN
**** VERY LIKELY TO PLACE IN THE TOP 10
*** POSSIBLE SURPRISE INCLUSION IN THE TOP 10
** UNLIKELY TO PLACE
* HIGHLY UNLIKELY TO PLACE

Cuba: Adisleydi Alonso **

Just like at Miss Grand International, I believe that Miss Cuba is also actually from Puerto Rico. Regardless of where she is from, in this group she was not really one of the standouts.

Curacao: Chimay Ramos *

Chimay arrived in Tokyo a few days after all the other girls. Unfortunately, I don't think she has a shot at placing for her country this year.

Dominican Republic: Barbara Santana ***

I didn't see it at first but Barbara has been getting quite a bit of attention in recent days. She is shining when it matters the most. I now won't count out a surprise inclusion in the top 10.

Ecuador: Carla Prado **

Carla has a pretty face. But pretty is not always enough. There are many great contenders this year. She will probably not place.

Egypt: Perihan Fateen ***

It's great to see Egypt back at Miss International and to be quite honest, I'm rather impressed by Perihan. She not be one of the hottest bets for the crown but she did her country proud. I think she is radiant and did a great job.

El Salvador: Idubina Rivas **

Initially I thought El Salvador might make an impact, but after a few days she started to fizzle. She is pretty but I think it will be an uphill battle for her.

Estonia: Birgit Konsin **

She is pretty but not outstanding. Bad styling also didn't help. I think she looks better with her hair pulled back.

Finland: Milla Romppanen ***

I was not convinced that this girl would do well. I have seen much better from Finland. However, it must be said that the Japanese love this kind of beauty. She has a very interesting face and the more I see of her, the more I'm starting to think she could pull a surprise.

France: Aurianne Sinacola ***

Aurianne looks like such a fan girl. She is also super stylish and fashionable. But is she too glamorous for Miss International? If the judges are looking for someone with a bit of pizzazz, she could go far. But it could go either way for this girl.

Gabon: Maggaly Nguema ****

I think Maggaly is absolutely stunning. In fact, she is definitely probably my favorite delegate from Gabon so far. Sadly, Africans don't have much luck in this pageant. I am hoping for a top 10 placement at least. It would be sad to see her left out.
