The 62nd Miss World will be crowned this Saturday, August 18th, at the Dongsheng
Fitness Stadium Center in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. 116 amazing young ladies
are competing to become the next Miss World. Ordos welcomed the girls with open
arms and it seems like they are going all out to show the world what they can
done. The stage is looking amazing and the opening ceremony looked fantastic
with all the traditional dancers and the huge LED screens. I hope we will be
treated with a grand and exciting final night. The contest was very long
again... four weeks! I am sure the girls must be exhausted by now but I also
know it has been a fantastic experience for them. It was hard to follow the
contest at times as the girls rarely wear their sashes. To know who's who, you
have to be able to either recognize them or be able to decipher what's written
on those small name tags. The groups is so strong this year, though, that it is
almost impossible to say who will be the next Miss World. There are so many
gorgeous and deserving young ladies and I wish them all good luck and the very
best in life!!!
****** COULD BE THE NEXT MISS WORLD
***** In the running for a spot in the top 7
**** Potential top 15 semi-finalist
*** Could be in the top 30
** Will possibly miss the cut
* Very likely to miss the cut
Here's what I think:
MAURITIUS: Shalini Panchoo *
Miss Mauritius has not really been visible at all during the pageant. She definitely got lost in the crowd and did not factor in any of the challenge events. It is quite evident that she will not place.

MEXICO: Mariana Berumen ******
Miss Mexico
is just gorgeous. She is definitely one of the crown favorites. She has that
girl-next-door type of beauty that the Miss World Organization adores. She
could very well be Mexico’s first Miss World and if that happens, I will
definitely be happy. She has the height, the beauty, and the elegance!
MONGOLIA: Bayarmaa Huselbataar **
Mongolia’s
delegate actually looks much better than her official photos on the Miss World website
and she also performed better than I expected. Having placed in talent, top
model, and beach beauty is a great achievement… but I don’t think she is a
significant threat to the front-runners.
MONTENEGRO: Nikolina Loncar *
In this crowd
of beauties, Nikolina just slipped into the background. At Miss Universe I
noticed her and thought she might have a slight chance of making it but here
the competition was just too strong.
NEPAL: Shristi Shrestha ****
I adore this
girl and I think she’s the best girl from Nepal that I’ve ever seen!!!! At
times I think she looks just like Aiswarya Rai. I know her country must be very
proud of her and I’m definitely rooting for her. It seems like she might have a
very good shot at placing… and it will be a well-deserved placement. Fingers
crossed, Nepal!!!
NETHERLANDS: Nathalie den Dekker ***
Nathalie is
one of the best blondes of the competition. She is consistent and she looked
very elegant and prepared at all times. However, I don’t think we will see very
many blondes in the top 30. If there are a few, she could definitely be one of
them.
NEW ZEALAND: Collette Lochore *
Unlike her
predecessor, Collette has not really grabbed much of the attention in China.
She seems to be more reserved and I’ve actually not seen that much of her. The
only thing I noticed was a few “interesting” wardrobe choices.
NICARAGUA: Lauren Lawson *
Here’s
another delegate that I do not know what to say about. In a large group like
this one, a few girls just really go by unnoticed. I hope she enjoyed the experience
though.
NIGERIA: Damiete Charles-Granville ***
Damiete had
to step in for the original winner of MBGN as she was too old to compete in
Miss World. In actual fact, she was a much better choice and she performed
really well. Her most significant achievements must be making it to the top 10
of Beach Beauty (so she is still in the running for that title) and top 46 of
Top Model, so with a good interview a top 30 placement can happen.
NORTHERN IRELAND: Tiffany Brien **
The UK title
will be a battle between Tiffany, Wales, and England. They are both strong
girls so I’m not sure which way it will go. Tiffany did quite well and she
excelled in Sports as expected and did very well to have made it to the top 10
of Beach Beauty, so she might have the second highest score in the UK after
Wales. Photos: www.missworld.com
