Miss World 2012 Review: Belize - Chile

The 62nd Miss World will be crowned this Saturday, August 18th, at the Dongsheng Fitness Stadium Center in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. 116 amazing young ladies are competing to become the next Miss World. Ordos welcomed the girls with open arms and it seems like they are going all out to show the world what they can done. The stage is looking amazing and the opening ceremony looked fantastic with all the traditional dancers and the huge LED screens. I hope we will be treated with a grand and exciting final night. The contest was very long again... four weeks! I am sure the girls must be exhausted by now but I also know it has been a fantastic experience for them. It was hard to follow the contest at times as the girls rarely wear their sashes. To know who's who, you have to be able to either recognize them or be able to decipher what's written on those small name tags. The groups is so strong this year, though, that it is almost impossible to say who will be the next Miss World. There are so many gorgeous and deserving young ladies and I wish them all good luck and the very best in life!!!

***** In the running for a spot in the top 7
**** Potential top 15 semi-finalist
*** Could be in the top 30
** Will possibly miss the cut
* Very likely to miss the cut

Here's what I think:

BELIZE: Chantae Guy ****
This girl from Belize is a real surprise. She is really pretty and I think she has the potential to do very well in this year’s pageant. She could possibly give Belize its best placement ever at Miss World. Her inclusion in the top 10 of Top Model was a surprise but also an indication that she might be a very good placement might be in store for her.

BERMUDA: Rochelle Minors *
Miss Bermuda did well in the Talent and Top Model Challenge Events but I do not see her as a contender for the crown.

BOLIVIA: Mariana Garcia **
I actually think that Mariana is a very attractive girl and in a year with a weaker field, she could have been in contention for a spot in the top 30. She also went unnoticed in the challenge events but a strong showing in the interview with the judging panel and a good Beauty With A Purpose project might just push her to ending just outside the top 30.

BONAIRE: Ana Maciel **
Bonaire actually surprised me. Even though she is short, she held her own amongst the other competitors. Even though I had very little hope for her initially, she actually did very well and she can feel proud about the way she represented her country.

I’ve seen way more stunning girls from her country left clapping, so I don’t Fikreta stands a chance to be in contention for the country. Walking in the Top Model final should be something to be super proud of though.

BOTSWANA: Tapiwa Preston **
Botswana usually sends girls who get noticed and Tapiwa is no exception. She is very striking indeed. Her eyebrows bothered me a bit but that’s just something very small and insignificant. She represented her country well but she will probably not be in the final 30.

BRAZIL: Mariana Notarangelo ******
Brazil’s Mariana has loads of pageant experience and she obviously used that to her advantage here. Though she is probably not the most gorgeous of all the girls, she always looked amazing and I’ve heard that she has an equally wonderful to match all of that. I believe she will be the top blonde this year and if she’s managed to impress the Miss World Organization enough, she could even be a surprise winner.

Bulgaria: Gabriela Vasileva ***
Here is another gorgeous girl that got lost in the crowd. And when you read her sash, you won’t be surprised. She has all the goods to be a top contender but somehow she just got lost and faded a bit as the competition went on. Still, I’m hoping that she will be at least in the top 30.

Canada: Tara Teng *
Tara was the surprise winner of Miss World Canada. In terms of beauty alone, she will probably not make it. But she could score major points for interview and Beauty With A Purpose especially and with the new points system that could push her high up the leaderboard.

Chile: Camila Recabarren ****
Camila is a gorgeous girl and she has done well throughout the competition. She is one of the ten girls who stand in line to be named Miss World Top Model. That should earn her valuable leaderboard points. I’m not sure if the article about her fued with Miss Colombia will hurt her chances. But she has the beauty to do very well in this competition. She faces tough competition in her region from Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia though.
